New: Teen Gender Affirming Voice Group!

Updated: Nov 28, 2022

We are thrilled to announce our new teen voice group! Community support is crucial to successfully changing voice gender presentation. Research has shown that this is especially true for teens. Our group will be led by Tallulah Breslin, speech language pathologist, and Fiona Barnhill, who has lived experience changing her own voice gender presentation. We're both really excited for our first group in August!

FAQs

What will the group consist of?

Our group will be a welcoming and safe space to explore and build confidence with your voice. Fiona, Tallulah, and group members will answer questions, be a resource for how to respond to different speaking scenarios, and will use a variety of direct instruction, voice practice, and fun vocal play to build your voice toolbox.

How often will the groups be held?

Our teen voice group is planned for the first and third Wednesdays. We are waiting to hear back from group members before we confirm the time.

How much will the voice groups cost?

Each group meeting is $50 per teen. We may be able to bill insurance- please include your information if you would like us to see what your insurance covers. Harmonic Speech is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Anthem, and Oscar Healthcare. We are also able to provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for out of network benefits if you have coverage from a different health insurance company.

What ages are eligible to join the group?

We're excited to welcome teens 13-19 years of age.

What experience do I need with my voice work in order to join?

All experience levels are welcome. We envision a supportive space where we can build both skills and confidence using our voices.

Do I need to be enrolled in private voice training sessions?

While you're welcome to join only our new group, we do know that voice gender presentation transition is most effective and efficient when both individual and group sessions are participated in.
